McCain's "Maverick" Moment

Image
I dont usually write an article on Friday but I enjoy doing this, and with so much material available its hard to resist.             Tonights topic is John McCain. McCain is probably the most loved and hated senator in Congress right now and those who love him and hate him probably felt differently about him last week. That love and hate has most likely flip-flopped throughout this week as he continued to make the headlines for his actions and more specifically, his votes. A lot has happened with him in the past few weeks.             About two weeks ago McCain had brain surgery and his absence delayed the critical vote on the Senate Healthcare bill. Last Wednesday McCain had been diagnosed with a brain tumor following the surgery which was a procedure to remove a blood clot. An outpouring of support from both sides of the political spectrum happened in response with former ...

Analyzing the Transgender Military Ban

A lot has happened this week. We heard Jared Kushner speak for the first time, our President turned an address to thousands of boy scouts into a political rally that included a booing of former President Obama, and John McCain returned to the Senate. On top of that, we got to see Communications Director Anthony Scaramucci in action and we witnessed a rift in the relationship between President Trump and AG Jeff Sessions.             Unfortunately, all of the things I just listed have to do with Donald Trump, so I cannot talk about them. However, when I made that rule back in February, I said that I couldnt talk about the President unless he did something crazy. The President and his policies are two separate things, so I can talk about his policies and not mention him.             Earlier today, the President announced a ban on transgender people being in the military citing tha...

Sean Spicer: In Memoriam

Image
Well, we knew this day was going to come. But when it finally came, none of us could have expected it.             Whether it was him arguing with reporters, mispronouncing the name Bashir al Assad, or simply not answering questions like he so often did, this man was truly like no other. No matter how lousy our days were going, we could always turn on CNN and think to ourselves, Wow. At least Im not that guy right now.             His chaotic approach to press briefings presented to the American people the perfect image of the administration he represented, one of turmoil. And his treatment of the press like a kindergarten teacher disciplining a class reflected the maturity level within the Trump White House.             The man I am talking about is Sean Spicer, the most famous press secretary to ever stand at the podium...

Shepard Versus Sean

Ive been away for a little while so before I go on I would like to make a statement and ask a question. 1.         I think I will be flying with Delta from now on. 2.         Hows the healthcare coming, Mitch? Those were just two little things that have been on my mind all week. Anyways Ive been gone for a little while. I did not publish an article at all last week for the first time in this blogs short history. Ive been posting once, twice, and sometimes three times a week since January and last week I was out of town for a mission trip. Usually I write an article when Im out of town before I leave but I couldnt do it this time for some reason. I had gotten back from a trip to New Orleans two days before going to this mission trip and I knew I had to write this blog; but I couldnt think of anything. Eventually on the eve of my trip, I was sitting at my computer screen at 11 at night trying to put something together. I think I was writing ...

O'Keefe's Beef with CNN

Im out of town this week so here is an article I wrote on June 29 th . A lot of Republicans are happy today after a group called Project Veritas dropped a bombshell video that exposed Van Jones at CNN after he said that the, Whole Russia thing is a nothing-burger. Republicans are happy about this because it cements their belief that CNN is leading a witch hunt on President Trump for ratings and bad publicity. While I do think that CNN has focused so much on the Trump-Russia collusion scandal purely for ratings, Republicans should not be so quick to rejoice at this video. James OKeefe is the head of Project Veritas, a group that supposedly undercovers corruption and exposes people and organizations. They were behind the infamous Planned Parenthood videos in 2009 that alleged that the body parts of aborted fetuses were being sold on the black market. If you followed that story you would learn that the whole thing was a lie and that OKeefe took words out of context and edited the v...
